Types of Memory
Short-term memory – temporary storage that lasts from 15-30 seconds, when no connections are made with previous information.
Working memory – data is held onto for a longer period of time. Information will be built, taken apart, and reworked using past experience and knowledge. Students will have an interest or a sense of responsibility attached to the information in working memory for example, there may be a test. Afterwards, the knowledge may be lost.
Long-term memory – connections to similar or previously stored knowledge where comparisons are made and patterns are found.
