Facts About Memory

  • When creating new connections, neuro-chemicals are released, if nothing is done with the information, it decays and is lost.  However, if a neuron is stimulated a second time it will remain in a ready state for hours or days.
  • The brain never forgets anything - only the inability to recall stands in our way.
  • The human mind can remember 5-7 unrelated items at a time.
  • The average adult is able to remember 20% of what they read 24 hours ago.
  • At least 40% of the total learning time should be spent on reviewing new information.
  • The more we review, the deeper the neural paths become in our brain, hence easier recall.
